Since 2014 Ellen Scharaga has served as an operational consultant at Alegria Specialty Pharmacy. In this capacity, she helps the company to develop and deliver specialty medications for a wide range of chronic conditions and to promote improved patient outcomes. Active within the professional community, Ellen Scharaga belongs to the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP).
In 2017 AMCP, the leading association dedicated to improving patient health outcomes, held its Managed Care and Specialty Pharmacy Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado. Lasting from March 27 to March 30, the event welcomed 4,000 professionals and stakeholders from throughout the United States.
The meeting kicked off on Monday with a pre-meeting Specialty Pharmacy Connect event that explored new innovations for specialty pharmacies to improve their spending management. AMCP began its general session the following day, featuring keynote addresses from such notable professionals as Derreck Kayongo, the CEO of the Center for Civil and Human Rights and the founder of the Global Soap Project.
Over the next several days, attendees participated in numerous industry workshops and student programs. The event also featured more than 40 educational sessions covering a wide range of topics, such as business trends in managed care and formulary management. In addition to these activities, the Annual Meeting hosted over 100 exhibitors at its Expo hall and offered nine independent satellite symposia.
