Ellen Scharaga joined Alegria Specialty Pharmacy as an operational consultant in 2014, helping the company develop specialty medications to manage chronic conditions, such as HIV, arthritic, Hepatitis C, and chronic pain. The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy is a professional association that aims to improve patient outcomes by making cost-effective medications more accessible. The AMCP, which comprises pharmacists, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, publishes the peer-reviewed monthly Journal of Managed Care and Specialty Pharmacy. The year 2020 marks the journal’s 25th anniversary, a milestone that will be celebrated through a series of articles that highlight changes to the publication and profession of managed care pharmacy over the past several decades.
